Engineers at the Rubin Central Design Bureau have designed a compact new type of submarine equipped with a vertical launch system. Thanks to it, the submarine, when submerged, can launch a salvo of missiles at targets on the surface of the sea or on the shore. This is written by Defensa.
Journalists of the publication admired the new development of "Rubin", noting that the Design Bureau has designed more than 900 submarines. At the same time, 116 of them were sent to 16 countries.
The hull and equipment, including the submarine's sonar, have been optimized to ensure stealthy navigation and reconnaissance without attracting the attention of potential adversaries.
The autonomy of the "Amur 950" is 30 days, and it carries a crew of 19 people.
Russia is one of the 4 countries in the world that have developed submarines with vertical missile launchers. This technology requires special skill, as the containers in which the weapons are housed and launched must withstand enormous pressure when submerged to a depth of several hundred meters.
