The Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University has created an unmanned truck based on Gazelle E-NN. This was reported by the university's press service.
Polytech specialists have created a control system for all vehicle systems. It includes a braking system, steering, accelerator pedal and driving mode selector.
A special control system has been developed for the unmanned truck. It analyzes the received information and sends signals to control the car.
The vehicle control system can recognize road markings and traffic light signals, as well as predict the behavior of other road users. The differences from existing developments are in the set and location of sensors, as well as the use of proprietary algorithms for processing information from them for more accurate and predictable vehicle behavior.
The developers also paid attention to the electric power steering. Thanks to it, the car can perform complex maneuvers.
The unmanned truck has successfully passed tests on busy roads. The development is planned to be introduced into the educational process of the university.
Earlier www1.ru reported that Russia wants to launch unmanned trucks.
