Yango, Yandex's international division, has expanded its services in the Middle East by launching a taxi booking service in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. This marks a significant step for Yango, as Abu Dhabi becomes the second city in the UAE after Dubai where the service is available. The launch in Dubai took place in September 2022.
In the initial phase of the service in Abu Dhabi, implemented in partnership with the Integrated Transport Centre of the Abu Dhabi Department of Municipalities, more than 300 vehicles were involved. Approximately 8,000 trips were completed in the first five months of operation. Currently, over 1,500 taxis are registered in the Yango system.
Director of the Integrated Center, Abdalla al-Marzouqi, noted that providing services through international applications significantly improves the overall efficiency of taxi operations in the region. He emphasized that the initiative connects public and private taxis, as well as licensed private vehicles, with passengers through secure electronic communication platforms and smart applications.
Yango continues to develop its international network, providing taxi and delivery services in more than 20 countries in Africa, the Middle East, Europe, and Latin America. At the end of 2023, the company opened its first international office in Dubai and also launched the Yango Maps navigation service with highly detailed next-generation maps.
