The Russian Mir payment system should start operating in Iran within 6 months, said Kazem Jalali, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic in Moscow.
Russian officials have promised us that the Mir system will start operating in Iran within 6 months.
The Shetab system will function in Russia, the high-ranking diplomat added.
Prior to this, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko stated that Moscow and Tehran are actively working on integrating the two payment systems Mir and Shetab, hoping to launch them in the near future.
The National Payment System appeared in 2015, but gained distribution in 2022 after Visa's departure. Russian authorities are seeking to spread Mir to other countries.
