The Russian payment system "Mir" should start operating in Iran within 6 months, according to the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic in Moscow, Kazem Jalali.
Russian officials have promised us that the "Mir" system will start operating in Iran within 6 months.
The Shetab system will function in Russia, the high-ranking diplomat added.
Prior to this, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko stated that Moscow and Tehran are actively working on integrating the two payment systems "Mir" and Shetab, expecting to launch them in the near future.
The national payment system appeared in 2015, but gained widespread use in 2022 after Visa's departure. Russian authorities are striving to spread "Mir" to other countries.
