В ВТБ выявили три основные схемы онлайн-мошенников

To steal personal data, fraudsters pose as employees of Gosuslugi, Mosenergo, and Avito

Three main fraudulent schemes have been identified. They are used by fraudsters to remotely steal data, according to Nikita Chugunov, Senior Vice President of VTB.

In addition to social engineering methods, fraudsters actively use remote access programs to extract personal data and funds from clients. Effective tools to protect against such scenarios include installing antivirus protection on your smartphone, enabling caller ID, and checking unfamiliar and suspicious links for security.

The first scheme is a call from "employees" of Gosuslugi. In this way, fraudsters steal personal data by offering to install special programs on the victim's smartphone. They then gain access to the portal and banking applications.

Fraudsters also love to pose as buyers from "Avito." They convince the seller to turn on the video to demonstrate the product, then send a phishing link and ask them to click on it.

As a result, a black screen pops up on the victim's smartphone, and the device itself is blocked. Then an SMS arrives to log into the service, and the content with the secret code is displayed on the screen. This data is also used to hack the account on Gosuslugi.

The third scheme is a call from Mosenergo. Fake employees ask to install an application to check water and electricity meters in the apartment. Then follows the standard deception algorithm.
