Russian airlines may be able to use the "wet" leasing mechanism, which allows renting aircraft together with the crew, in cooperation with airlines from friendly countries. From September 1, 2024, this mechanism is available for domestic flights in Russia. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Savelyev announced this in an interview with TASS at the Eastern Economic Forum.
We have completed the first phase by allowing the use of the mechanism within Russia. Now we can consider expanding it to international markets with the support of foreign partners.
Currently, the "wet" leasing mechanism is used exclusively for domestic flights. The first to announce its readiness to use this mechanism was the head of Aeroflot, Sergei Alexandrovsky. He said that the company had already offered Aurora Airlines to start using this mechanism and even initiated proposals for its extension to international markets.
