Ships of the Northern Fleet, the frigate "Admiral Golovko" and the missile cruiser "Marshal Ustinov," repelled an air raid in the Barents Sea. The training battle took place as part of the strategic command and staff exercise "Ocean – 2024".
Pilots of shipborne fighter aviation regiments on deck-based MiG-29K and Su-33s acted as the mock enemy. They simulated an attack on the ships from various directions.
The naval personnel engaged the simulated aerial targets with electronic launches. During the exercises, the servicemen practiced the interaction of combat crews of missile-artillery and electronic warfare units of the ships in detecting, classifying targets, tracking them with electronic warfare equipment, and destroying them.
The missile cruiser's crew used the "Fort" anti-aircraft missile system in electronic launch mode against aircraft simulating an enemy air raid, and engaged the simulated aerial targets with a battery of AK-130 universal caliber, as well as the AK-630 anti-aircraft artillery system.
The strategic command and staff exercise "Ocean-2024" started on September 10 and will last until September 16. The maneuvers are taking place in the waters of the Arctic and Pacific Oceans, the Caspian, Mediterranean, and Baltic Seas. More than 400 warships, submarines, and support vessels, over 120 aircraft and helicopters of naval aviation of the Navy and Aerospace Forces, and about 90,000 military personnel are participating.
