The ship was built according to project 12700

The mine countermeasures ship "Yakov Balyaev (project 12700 "Alexandrite")", developed at the Almaz Central Marine Design Bureau and built at the Sredne-Nevsky Shipbuilding Plant, took part in exercises using a self-propelled underwater vehicle. The maneuvers took place in the Peter the Great Bay in the Far East.

As part of the exercise, during the escort of the Pacific Fleet ships through an area with a mine threat, the minesweeper personnel first used an automatic complex for searching and detecting mines and a sonar station.

The minesweeper crew used an underwater vehicle in the exercises to search for and neutralize naval mines of various classifications.

About ships of project 12700 "Alexandrite"

Ships of this project 12700 belong to the new generation of mine-sweeping forces. The minesweepers have high maneuverability and a reduced magnetic field. Ships of project 12700 will form the basis of the Russian Navy's mine countermeasures forces in the coming decades.
