The Russian military has begun using new small-sized jet-powered unmanned aerial vehicles. They are used as false targets for enemy anti-aircraft missile systems, military expert Evgeny Damantsev noted.
According to the presented footage, they have an aerodynamic configuration of a "flying wing" with a sweep of about 45 degrees and an effective reflecting surface of about 0.07 - 0.1 ㎡.
The drones are designed to oversaturate the target channel capacity of the IRIS-T SLM, NASAMS-2 and "Patriot PAC-2/3" SAM systems. The drones are equipped with small-sized turbojet engines of the "Swiwin SW-X" line with a thrust of 20 to 80 kgf.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that a "megawatt" for heavy drones was developed in Russia. The device is also suitable for carrying heavy cargo over long distances.
