Military Expert Leonkov Names Electronic Warfare Equipment as a Way to Combat UAV Attacks on Oil Refineries

The infrastructure of oil refineries also needs protection from strike drones. However, not all traditional methods of combating aerial targets are suitable for this purpose, explained military expert Alexei Leonkov.

According to him, when such a UAV is blown up by a missile system munition, many fragments will scatter across the territory, which will ultimately cause the ignition of fuels and lubricants.

The best thing for this task is to use electronic warfare (EW) equipment. We need installations that will suppress all frequencies on which UAVs fly. The drone should not be near the oil refinery at all, it is necessary to deprive it of the opportunity to even fly up to the object, since many drones, even when they are turned off, are able to glide for a very impressive distance of 1-2 km, and at the end of the path cause damage.
Alexei Leonkov, military expert

Leonkov emphasized that electronic warfare equipment should be placed on the approaches to the oil refinery, and they should work for 24 hours. At the same time, the method will become even more effective if the operators of such systems manage to cooperate with someone who tracks from which side the UAVs are flying.
