The Russian IT company Sitronics Group plans to significantly increase the production of its electric vessels, bringing the output to 50-60 units per year. This was announced by Nikolai Pozhidaev, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sitronics Group and Managing Partner of Sistema PJSFC.
Currently, the group is building ships at two shipyards — in the Leningrad Region and in Perm, where capital-intensive modernization projects are being actively implemented to meet modern fleet requirements.
Pozhidaev said that Russia has achieved significant success in the application of unmanned technologies in navigation, ahead of many other countries. He emphasized that the development of an appropriate regulatory framework would be required for the successful implementation of such technologies abroad.
A number of legislative initiatives concerning unmanned vessels have already been adopted. Currently, the technologies will be tested first in the inland waters of Russia before moving to international waters.
