Sitronics Group, one of the leading diversified Russian IT companies engaged in the digitalization of shipping and other areas of transport, has announced its intention to present its own unmanned vessels with an autonomous navigation system in the summer of 2024. Nikolai Pozhidaev, the company's president, emphasized that this will be an important step in the development of autonomous shipping technology.
Pozhidaev noted that the successful launch of the electric vessels "Marshal Rokossovsky" and "General Chernyakhovsky" in 2023 in autonomous mode has already proven the operability of the technology. This confirmation of the system's effectiveness has stimulated the company to further develop in the river unmanned shipping industry.
This summer, I hope, we will already apply these systems [autonomous navigation] to our electric vessels.
The President of Sitronics Group also noted that the expansion of the use of autonomous navigation on river vessels is currently being discussed. He emphasized that the company is ready to offer this technology both domestically and in the international market.
