A disadvantage of the advanced Russian 122mm "Klever" robot howitzer is its low speed, which makes the equipment extremely vulnerable to FPV drones. This was pointed out by military expert Evgeny Damantsev.
Footage of field tests of the MTS-15 "Klever" based on the 2A18M artillery gun with a two-chamber muzzle brake, a 4-round cassette, and an automatic loader, had previously appeared online.
The self-propelled gun has a range of 120 km, and a speed limited to 15 km/h, which makes it vulnerable to FPV kamikaze drones and helicopter-type strike kamikaze UAVs. Nevertheless, equipping it with a jam-resistant command and telemetry communication channel with an effective range of 500 m, or a cable control channel, ensures 100% crew survivability in the event of enemy counter-battery fire.
Damantsev added that to achieve high efficiency, the MTS-15's ammunition load should consist exclusively of 122-mm Kitolov-2M guided artillery projectiles. However, it is currently unknown whether the MTS-15's automatic loader is adapted for their use.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that the Russian Iskander OTRK destroyed an American HIMARS MLRS with a single shot. Objective control footage surfaced online.
