The Khristianovich Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (ITPM) SB RAS has created a luminous composite material for use in construction.
The new material includes luminophores. It is capable of converting absorbed energy into light emission.
The composite will serve as a sensor for detecting cracks and deformations in the external and internal structures of buildings using luminescence. Data on emerging defects will be transmitted as a light signal to a receiving device via a fiber optic cable.
The developers plan to conduct a series of experiments to determine the material's reaction to different loads. The composite is planned to be improved for further use in lighting and construction.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that a new material for energy conversion was developed in Moscow to obtain electricity from the Earth's magnetic field.
