In the Moscow region, a stationary combat module of the Pantsir-SMD anti-aircraft missile system was deployed on a 25-meter lattice tower for low-altitude detection, tracking and interception of aerial targets. The footage appeared online.
Military expert Evgeny Damantsev noted that thanks to the towers, the system takes the line of sight of the multispectral optoelectronic module 10ES1 and the diagrams of the 1RS2 Shlem guidance radars.
It ensures the tracking and interception of kamikaze UAVs with low-altitude flight profiles, as well as increasing the radio horizon range of their detection.
According to Damantsev, such structures need to be erected near strategic bases, oil refineries and military depots.
The complex is equipped with mini-missiles to destroy drones and, unlike the Pantsir-S1, does not have cannon armament.
The ammunition load in the Pantsir-SMD launcher guides can reach up to 12 standard anti-aircraft guided missiles or 48 short-range anti-aircraft guided missiles. At the same time, the number of missiles in the launcher may vary depending on the combination between standard and mini-missiles.
The target detection radar is equipped with an active phased antenna array and provides all-round visibility with large elevation angles. For example, for an object with an RCS of 1 sq. m., the detection range is 45 km. Up to 40 targets can be processed simultaneously.
Earlier www1.ru reported that Russian Su-24 "Fencers" performed bombing. The strikes during the exercises were carried out with the execution of simple and complex types of maneuvers from medium and low altitudes
