The Russian company "Plastun" presented the "Plastun-TT" ATV at the "Army-2024" exhibition, developed taking into account the requirements of the Russian Armed Forces. It is likely to replace the Chinese Desertcross 1000-3 ATVs that entered service in November 2023, writes Army Recognition.
According to the publication, by November 2023, 537 Desertcross vehicles had been delivered to the Russian Armed Forces, and it was planned to increase this number to 1590 by March 2024.
The "Plastun-TT" is assembled from Russian parts and components. The ATV can transport military personnel, cargo, and specialized equipment over terrain with low bearing capacity.
The ATV received a frame made of stainless steel pipes. The pipes consist of two sections connected by a hinge, which allows the "Plastun-TT" to maneuver and overcome difficult terrain. The vehicle is equipped with a 1.6 BPR 11146 gasoline engine, working in tandem with a VAZ 21213 gearbox, as well as a GAZ 3302 rear axle with a locking differential.
The weight of the "Plastun-TT" is 1850 kg, and when fully loaded — up to 2850 kg. The body and frame of the vehicle are made of 2 mm thick aluminum sheets, reinforced with 2.5 mm thick stainless steel pipes.
Currently, a prototype of the "Plastun-TT" is undergoing testing in one of the regions of Russia.
