Увечит срок продуктов в 2-2,5 раза: в Нижнем Новгороде разработали специальную пищевую пленку

Thanks to its composition, it decomposes in the soil in 50-70 years

Lobachevsky University of Nizhny Novgorod (UNN) has created a biodegradable antimicrobial food film for preserving vegetables, the university's press service reported.

The development allows to increase the shelf life of products by 2-2.5 times. The film is created on the basis of organic zinc salt, its composition includes expensive silver, which is not embedded in polymers. The novelty also includes starch and sucrose, due to which it decomposes in the soil in 50-70 years.

The shelf life of products can be adjusted by decreasing or increasing the concentration of zinc compound in the material.

Production does not require large time costs and expensive equipment. Previously, such films were used only in construction and medicine.

Earlier www1.ru reported that Ural scientists came up with a unique food packaging.
