В Екатеринбурге создали гигантскую солнечную электростанцию

The plant will allow assessing the effectiveness of implementing such solutions in cold regions

A new research solar power plant has appeared in Yekaterinburg. It was installed on the facade of the 12-story building of the Ural Federal University (UrFU).

The area of the new installation is 300 square meters. The power plant includes 144 panels, which are located vertically. This allows providing the building with energy up to 65kW. The energy is enough to illuminate the corridors in the summer season. But the main task of the installation is to test the technology and its effectiveness in regions with a small number of sunny days per year.

It is important to study the change in the characteristics of the panels depending on the season and operating time. In order to determine the effectiveness of their implementation in the conditions of a large city and in not the sunniest regions.

In winter, the panel will also continue to work. This is possible due to the vertical arrangement of the panels, on which snow will roll down and not prevent sunlight from entering.

Earlier www1.ru reported that in Krasnoyarsk will build the first solar grid power plant for electric vehicles.
