Russian military personnel at the forefront have deployed the latest Pantsir-SM-SV anti-aircraft missile and gun system. The advantages of the combat unit were revealed by military analyst Evgeny Damantsev.
The Pantsir is based on the GM-352M1E chassis and is designed for conducting military air defense and anti-missile defense both on the march in the rear and in the near-front zone during maneuver operations of units.
The GM-352 chassis was previously used on the Tunguska-M1 SAM system, it provides significantly higher off-road capability for rapid access to pontoon bridge crossing areas.
But the main advantage continues to be the new surveillance radar with a target detection range with an RCS of 1 m² of about 60 km and with an RCS of 0.07 m², which is equivalent to GMLRS shells of HIMARS systems — up to 30 km.
He noted that the ammunition load of the Pantsir-SM-SV can be represented by both standard two-stage anti-aircraft guided missiles 57E6 and their higher-speed and longer-range 57E6M with a range of 40 km and a speed of 1800 m/s, as well as small-sized TKB-1055 (19Ya6) for counteracting large formations of MLRS rockets and enemy drones with an ultra-small effective reflecting surface.
Earlier www1.ru reported that Russian Ka-52 combat helicopters have become invulnerable to missiles thanks to the electronic warfare system. It is capable of diverting up to a dozen missiles at a time.
