According to the press service of the Ministry of Defense, a special exercise was conducted by military rescuers of the Pacific Fleet in Kamchatka using the deep-sea vehicle "AS-30" in the Avacha Bay. The personnel of the emergency rescue team of the Operational Command successfully completed the tasks. 3 ships and more than 100 people were involved in the exercise.
The crew of the rescue vessel "Georgy Kozmin", on board of which the "AS-30" is based, went to the combat training area to perform the exercise. At the dive site, the management set the task of lowering the vehicle into the water to search for a mock-up lying at a depth of 26 meters. The deep-sea vehicle approached the mock-up in the time specified by the standards, secured itself to the coaming platform and simulated rescue operations to evacuate the crew of a conditionally distressed submarine.
The exercise at depth lasted several hours and allowed the crew to practice actions in conditions of limited visibility. A robotic vehicle was located at depth in tandem with the manned submersible, which monitored and ensured the safety of underwater operations.
"AS-30"
Autonomous manned deep-sea vehicles built according to Project 1855 of the Central Design Bureau "Lazurit" at the USC "Krasnoye Sormovo" plant between 1982 and 1989. "AS-30" are in service with the search and rescue services of the Russian Navy fleets, and have been modernized in accordance with the requirements of the time.
The "AS-30" submersibles have several tasks, the main ones being the rescue of crews of submarines in distress and the performance of various works at depths of up to 1000 meters. The working diving depth for the submersible is considered to be 500 meters.
The length of each vehicle is 13.5 meters, the width is 3.8 meters, and the height is 5.7 meters. The submersible's crew consists of four people and can take on board up to 20 rescued submariners in an emergency.
It is usually delivered to the dive site by a carrier ship. In emergency cases, the submersible can do without a rescue ship, as it is capable of traveling up to 39 kilometers on its own.
The life support autonomy of each vehicle with a crew is 120 hours, with a rescued submarine crew included - only 10 hours.
After the modernization, the "AS-30" received new digital generation systems as special equipment, new positioning systems, hydroacoustic search and television monitoring.
The submersibles have become more maneuverable, more efficient in searches and dives, and have become faster at transmitting data to the board of their rescue vessels. It is known that robotic vehicles have been added to them in pairs in missions.
