«Союз МС-26» на Байконуре, космонавты в центрифуге: как готовится новый пуск на МКС

In a week, the spacecraft successfully completed a cycle of pneumatic vacuum tests in the chamber

From August 5 to 12, the "Soyuz MS-26" was in a space simulator. Automated monitoring of the tightness of the compartments and onboard systems of the ship in ground conditions - it passed without any remarks. The spacecraft returned to its workplace to continue pre-flight preparation.

"Soyuz MS-26" is waiting for:

  • checking the functioning of the automation of the combined propulsion system and the system of actuating descent bodies;
  • testing the onboard digital computing complex;
  • checking the equipment of radio engineering systems;
  • refueling the coolant of the thermal control system of the ship.

Meanwhile, the cosmonauts and their backups are undergoing training and taking exams, which include both standard operations when docking with the ISS and emergency situations. They are also practicing all the nuances of landing, and possible emergency situations during this. For example, overload or equipment failure, in which the cosmonauts take control of the descent vehicle themselves.

The ISS-72 crew took turns performing the descent in four modes: two static and two dynamic during the rotation of the centrifuge. The dynamic mode of the centrifuge, as noted by Roscosmos, simulates the overloads that cosmonauts and astronauts experience when returning to Earth in a descent vehicle when it enters the dense layers of the atmosphere.

Two Russian cosmonauts, along with NASA astronaut Donald Pettit, will leave Earth on the Soyuz MS-26 manned spacecraft on September 11. The main Russian crew is Alexey Ovchinin and Ivan Wagner, the backups are Sergey Ryzhikov and Alexey Zubritsky.
