The MiG-31 fighter (NATO classification Foxhound) is considered one of the fastest combat aircraft in the world. It has been in operation for more than four decades, but still remains a crucial asset for the Russian Aerospace Forces. This is according to The National Interest.
The MiG-31I modification received air refueling capabilities, advanced avionics, and missile systems, which will expand the aircraft's combat radius and its operational efficiency.
According to The National Interest, the Russian Ministry of Defense plans to keep the MiG-31 in service until at least 2030. This confirms its high strategic value for the Russian Aerospace Forces.
The MiG-31 still remains a mystery to the West — partly because there are many rumors and assumptions surrounding its capabilities.
