The Rubin Design Bureau of USC showcased its new unmanned remotely operated underwater vehicle "KIT-3000" at the international military-technical forum "Army-2024".
"KIT-3000" was already brought to the "Army-2022" forum, but as a modest model. Now it has been slightly improved, and as a result, the device with two manipulators can:
- perform underwater work on laying and maintaining subsea main pipelines;
- assist scientists in scientific research. It perfectly collects samples of polymetallic nodules and biological samples from the bottom into a removable basket;
- deliver equipment from the surface and install it at a specified point underwater.
Despite the impressive name, inherited from the largest marine mammal, it has modest dimensions: the length of the device is about 3 meters, the width is about 1.8 meters, and the height is just over 2 meters. "KIT-3000" weighs five tons and is transported to the place of service in a 20-foot container.
Earlier in 2024, a new autonomous deep-sea vehicle "Sergei Bavilin" was laid down at the USC shipyards. It will study the World Ocean in the interests of the Russian Ministry of Defense.
The international military-technical forum "Army-2024" is taking place in the Patriot Exhibition Center from August 12 to 14. This year, the "Army" forum is being held in a closed format for the first time: all entertainment events and free access to the expositions for visitors have been canceled.
