NPO Energomash is ready for serial production of the RD-171MV rocket engine, which is intended for the first stage of the Soyuz-5 launch vehicle. This was announced by the head of the enterprise, Igor Arbuzov, at the Army-2024 forum.
The company has confirmed its readiness for serial production by creating engines for ground testing and supplying engines for flight tests.
Currently, two flight models of the RD-171MV have already been created, and the third is planned to be assembled in 2024. However, the launch of serial production will only be carried out if there is a corresponding order for rocket launches.
The RD-171MV engine, nicknamed the "Tsar Engine", is planned to be used on the first stage of the new Soyuz-5 launch vehicle. In the future, the RD-171MV will also be used in the side boosters of the Yenisei super-heavy class rocket.
