New cars on the Russian market are becoming more expensive from month to month, while in the used car market, on the contrary, prices have been falling for almost six months now. Thus, in July, cars fell in price by almost 3%.
On average, a used car costs 1 million 510 thousand rubles. In comparison with June, prices decreased by 2.7% — by 42 thousand rubles.
But it's too early to rejoice. The fact is that if you compare the cost of used cars in July this year with the same indicator in 2023, it turns out that cars have become more expensive. True, by only 1% or 15 thousand rubles.
By the way, prices for used cars in the Russian Federation have been declining since March. Prior to the July drop, the record was April, when the cost of cars in the secondary market decreased by 1.6%
Let us remind you that the average age of a car in Russia in 2023 was almost 15 years, and according to data for August this year, more than 71% of cars in the country are over 10 years old. At the same time, experts predict that the average age of cars in the country will continue to increase. To update the fleet, more than 2 million new cars need to be produced per year, but there have been no such figures for several years.
