The Russian "Blockpost-T" reconnaissance thermal imaging system with intelligent video analytics may be modernized to counter drones on the front lines. This was announced by the general designer of the Astron optical-mechanical design bureau, Vitaly Serov.
According to him, thanks to the modular design of the product, the modernization potential of the complex is almost unlimited. The manufacturer can change the capabilities of radio communications, detection range and other functionality of the complex, depending on tactical tasks.
We are now working on turning the complex into a full-fledged reconnaissance and target designation station that can issue coordinates to destruction means. In addition, proposals have been received to modernize the complex to counter enemy drones, and there is already some practical experience.
Serov noted that "Blockpost-T" has already demonstrated high efficiency on the front lines, it is used to identify and eliminate threats to the positions of Russian military personnel.
We are receiving a large number of modernization proposals due to the fact that the complex is beginning to be used to solve completely new tactical tasks, in particular, the detection of enemy UAVs and target designation for destruction means.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the PD-2900 twin-engine drone from the Geran line with the Su-57 livery was developed in China. The declared flight duration is 12 hours with a range of up to 2500 km and a speed of up to 250 km/h.
