Naval officers arrived to celebrate today's Navy Day. China was represented by the destroyer "Jiaozuo" and a comprehensive supply ship, Algeria by the training ship "La Soummam" with cadets from the Naval Academy.

The government of St. Petersburg and the command of the Leningrad Naval Base held an official reception on board the corvette for guests from China. They noted the strong international military-technical cooperation between Russia and China and called for further development of friendly relations between the countries. Algerian cadets and military personnel visited "Soobrazitelny" separately. They praised the high level of preparation for the Navy Day celebration and congratulated their Russian colleagues on the holiday.

"Soobrazitelny" is the first of the Project 20380 corvettes developed by the Almaz Central Marine Design Bureau. These multipurpose patrol ships are designed to perform various tasks in the coastal zone: from combating surface ships and enemy submarines to supporting amphibious operations. They have good maneuverability and an impressive arsenal - each has anti-ship missiles, artillery, anti-submarine weapons and a helicopter on board. At the same time, the hull and superstructure of the corvettes use materials with radio-absorbing properties, making them difficult to detect by enemy radars.

The main strike weapons of Project 20380 ships are the Uran anti-ship missile system, the Redut air defense system, the Paket-NK anti-submarine missile-torpedo complex, and artillery installations. Helicopters are also used to perform tasks: Ka-27 or Ka-27PL.

In total, the Russian Navy has five corvettes of this type: "Steregushchy", "Soobrazitelny", "Stoyky", "Boyky" and "Mercury". "Mercury" entered service last, in 2023. It is known that it is planned to build up to twenty ships of this project.
