Scientists from Sechenov University have joined a project to create a map of the human phenome (a set of physical, chemical, and biological characteristics of individuals and populations), Rector Petr Glybochko announced during a report at a meeting of the Russian-Chinese Association of Medical Universities in Guangzhou.
According to Glybochko, Russian scientists are currently collecting data from cancer patients for this project. The research results will allow the development of methods for proactive diagnostics for patients with oncological and other diseases.
The project was launched in 2017 by employees of Fudan University. It aims to discover the relationship between genes, the environment, and phenotypes. It is expected that the first results of the phenome map can be used within a few years.
