A gel for printing implantable tissues and organs has been created at the Bashkir State Medical University. This was reported by the press service of the government of the Republic of Bashkortostan.
ALLOINK Matrigel was created from collagen similar to human collagen. The developers did not use toxic fixatives.
ALLOINK ensures biocompatibility, which minimizes the risks of rejection and side effects on the bioorganism. Bioengineered scaffolds based on it have high mechanical strength, elasticity, and flexibility.
Organs printed with the gel are planned to be used for implantation. This will speed up the selection of materials for patients in need of transplantation.
The developers have started preclinical testing. It is planned to evaluate cytotoxicity, immune response, and tissue regeneration of the gel.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that the world's first bio-printing operation directly on a patient was carried out in Russia.
