Russian authorities have not ordered the slowing down of the WhatsApp messenger. This was stated by the press secretary of the President of Russia, Dmitry Peskov.
The government official emphasized that he is not aware of the service slowing down in certain regions of the country.
I am not aware of this. Perhaps these are measures related to the fight against terrorism. But there is no slowdown. At least, I do not have such information.
It is worth noting that earlier in the State Duma of Russia it was reported that WhatsApp would be slowed down in the country. The reason was calls for extremist activity on the messenger platform.
This was confirmed by users from Dagestan. They noted that on July 7 and 8 of this year, WhatsApp was working intermittently. Complaints were also recorded in the Krasnodar Territory, Moscow and the Moscow Region, in St. Petersburg, the Rostov and Volgograd Regions, in the Stavropol Territory, in Kabardino-Balkaria and North Ossetia.
According to the DownRadar and Downdetector portals, users stopped receiving and sending messages, calls did not work, and videos did not load.
