In early July, German Air Force Eurofighter fighters intercepted two Russian fourth-generation MiG-29K carrier-based fighters in international airspace over the Baltic Sea. The outcome of a hypothetical clash between these fighters would likely depend on the technical characteristics of the Eurofighter, according to The Military Watch Magazine.
Eurofighter aircraft built before 2020 fly with outdated radars that are easy to suppress. These older models make up the vast majority of the current German fighter fleet.
But the modern Eurofighter Tranche 4 uses the Captor-E radar, which is considered more advanced than the radar on the MiG-29K. Another factor that could affect the outcome of the confrontation is the use of missiles. In particular, when it comes to the Meteor air-to-air missile, it surpasses the Russian R-77-1 missile in range.
The MiG-29K regiment remains the most modern unit of the Russian Navy. However, due to the popularity of the heavier and more efficient Su-27, their role has significantly decreased.
