The Ministry of Industry and Trade intends to shorten the implementation period of the VOLGA car project. This was announced by the head of the ministry, Anton Alikhanov, at the Innoprom exhibition in Yekaterinburg. According to him, the car manufacturer is currently negotiating with its partners. It is likely that we are talking about partners in China, because VOLGA are rebranded Changan cars.
We would like to "shift" the program that they presented to us a little to the left, to make it more intense.
The Minister expressed confidence that the necessary agreements will be reached in the near future. The ministry has a request from the manufacturers of the new "Volgas" for additional support measures.
It should be reminded that the revived VOLGA cars were first presented at the "Digital Industry of Industrial Russia" exhibition in Nizhny Novgorod in May. The lineup will include a sedan and two crossovers: C and D class. All models are Chinese Changans.
The cars will be produced on the territory of the Nizhny Novgorod automobile cluster. The assembly plan is 100 thousand cars per year. It was planned that the full production cycle would start in 2025.
