What were GAZ's claims?
The Gorky Automobile Plant and Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft entered into an agreement for the supply of diesel engines from 2017. According to GAZ, obligations to supply such engines have been violated since 2021, and in 2022 the German company completely abandoned the agreement. After that, GAZ went to court. The amount of the claim amounted to 28 billion 401 million rubles.
20.7 billion rubles of the claim amount is compensation for lost profits. After all, the plant could not produce cars with diesel engines and sell them through distributors.
5.2 billion are GAZ's claims for compensation for the plant's expenses to compensate its distributor. 2.5 billion rubles is the damage in the form of the plant's investments in the production of cars with Volkswagen diesel engines. These investments could not pay off due to the termination of engine supplies. Nevertheless, the court satisfied GAZ's claim only partially.
