Minsk celebrated Independence Day and the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from Nazi invaders on July 3. The capital hosted a grand military parade, which included samples of Russian equipment.
For the first time, the 9K720 Iskander-M OTRK in nuclear configuration, equipped with 9M723-1 operational-tactical quasi-ballistic missiles, drove along the main street of Minsk. The Tor-M2K SAM system, Osa-AKM, and other equipment also participated in the parade.
T-72B3 tanks are on the march. In terms of combat capabilities and technical characteristics, these tanks are considered among the best in the world. The modernized tank received an improved weapons system, a new power plant, modern digital communication equipment, fire control systems, and a multi-channel gunner's sight.
Guests of the parade saw columns of BMP-2s, which are the main combat vehicle of the motorized rifle units of the Armed Forces of Belarus. The BMP-2's gun is capable of effectively firing at both ground and air targets.
Before the tribune is a column of new BTR-82As that have entered service with the Armed Forces of Belarus. The combat vehicles have high firepower. The BTR-82A is equipped with Belarusian digital communication equipment, which has improved the stability, stealth, and quality of information transmission.
OTRK Iskander-M is in the parade procession for the first time. This is a powerful missile system for hitting targets at a range of up to 500 kilometers. It is capable of using missiles in nuclear configuration as well. The deployment of non-strategic nuclear weapons in Belarus is a response to the aggressive policy of unfriendly countries.
For the first time at the parade is a new domestic development - the Geran-2 strike unmanned aerial vehicles. UAVs are capable of carrying a warhead weighing up to 52 kilograms, developing speeds up to 180 kilometers per hour, and covering distances of up to 2,000 kilometers.
Putin's Congratulation
Russian President Vladimir Putin sent a congratulatory telegram to his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko. In it, he emphasized the importance of the unity of Russia and Belarus.
The bonds of friendship and mutual assistance, forged in the harsh military era, remain a reliable basis for the development of strategic partnership and alliance relations between our countries today. Russia and Belarus are fruitfully cooperating in various areas, effectively coordinating efforts in countering external threats. I am confident that the further expansion of the complex of constructive bilateral ties, the strengthening of the institutions of the Union State meet the interests of our fraternal peoples.
