A new batch of modernized supersonic Su-34NVO aircraft (NVO stands for "new capabilities"),sent today to the Russian Aerospace Forces, has received additional structural and equipment elements, according to the Zvezda TV channel.
Engineers at the Chkalov Aviation Plant, where the already flying "Sushki" are produced and modernized, have developed and tested an additional fuel tank in the wing. Checking its tightness became a serious task for them.
Fuel tanks are filled directly with kerosene, pressurized to a certain pressure, held for a period of time, after which the fuel tank - its cleanliness is also ensured, that is, it is flushed, then the fuel is sent to the laboratory and the required cleanliness class must be ensured.
Another design feature of the advanced modifications of the Su-34 is a heat-resistant sheet with a titanium coating, which is designed to protect the wing from burning and overheating during rocket launches.
Before handing over to the customer, the plant's test pilots always conduct a series of test flights to ensure the reliability of the equipment in the sky and in action.
When a machine leaves the assembly shop, it is not yet an aircraft. When it takes to the air, the flight is the culmination of the work of a multi-thousand-strong team.
Another feature of the new batch of Su-34NVO is the equipping of the machines with Sh-141 "Predator" airborne radar systems (BRLS), writes the Telegram channel "Russian Weapons". The BRLS has both a ground surface scanning mode in SAR mode with the detection of targets such as operational-tactical missile systems at a distance of about 100 km, and an "air-to-air" mode with the detection of targets with an effective reflecting surface of 1.5 - 3 m² at a distance of about 100 - 120 km.
The weapon control system of the machines is adapted to the use of 2.2-Mach multi-purpose tactical missiles Kh-38ML/MT/MA, as well as gliding guided aerial bombs with UMPC kits.
Earlier, Izvestia reported that the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation will purchase 76 of the latest Su-34 bombers by 2027. The modernization of the equipment includes updating the avionics, installing high-precision weapons and a set of several suspended reconnaissance containers. The improved version of the combat aircraft is designated as Su-34M orSu-34 NVO.
Earlierwww1.ru reported that a new batch of Su-34 bombers arrived at the front. Vladimir Artyakov, First Deputy General Director of Rostec, noted that this machine is very popular in the Armed Forces.
