Military Expert Damantsev: "Polonez" Inferior to Russian MLRS "Tornado-S"

Due to the current situation, the missile forces and artillery of Belarus urgently deployed a "Polonez" MLRS division near the state border. This was reported by the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Defense.

In accordance with the complex situation near the state border and the task assigned, the division went to the designated area with a full set of ammunition and took up combat duty at the designated facilities. Ready to perform tasks of delivering missile strikes at a range of up to 300 kilometers within 20 minutes.

Minsk's readiness to use the multiple launch rocket system is an asymmetric response to the deployment of dozens of American-made HIMARS MLRS near the republic's border. This was pointed out by military expert Evgeny Damantsev.

216 two-stage guided missiles of which are capable of easily over-saturating the target channel even of 10 Patriot PAC-3MSE anti-aircraft missile batteries, and disabling target objects in the event of aggression from the enemy.

Damantsev compared the "Polonez-M" and the Russian "Tornado-S" MLRS. According to him, the Belarusian multiple launch rocket system differs from the Russian one in the presence of a modular principle for reloading transport and launch modules, as well as a twofold reduction in the electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR, a quantitative measure of an object's ability to scatter an electromagnetic wave) of the combat stage compared to the standard 300-mm 9M544-type rocket projectile, which reduces the range of its detection by radar and SAM illumination radars by approximately 30%. In addition, operational-tactical quasi-ballistic missiles M20 with a range of 290 km can be integrated into the ammunition load, he added.

The disadvantages of "Polonez" include: a limited ammunition load of 8 missiles / long-range A-200 guided missiles on one launcher based on MZKT-7930 compared to 12 for "Tornado-S", a circular probable deviation of about 30-50 m compared to 10-20 m for "Tornado-S".
