AGR LLC (which owns the former Hyundai plant in St. Petersburg) will restart the former Volkswagen plant located in Kaluga. It will start operating on August 1.
The plant will produce Chinese cars under a Russian brand. A little more than 500 people will work in three shifts.
According to Maxim Kadakov, editor-in-chief of "За рулём", the cars will be assembled using the large-node method, receiving parts from China. It is not yet known which models will be put on the assembly line.
The plant was acquired by Art-Finance (associated with AGR LLC) in May 2023 for 125 million euros from the German concern Volkswagen.
