Automated protein production farm operates with the help of AI

The FoodNet company of the National Technology Initiative "Insectlab" has developed a new, easily digestible additive based on insect protein (insect protein) as an alternative to classic feed analogues. This was reported by the press service of the National Technology Initiative Platform.

Insect protein is created on an automated farm, and its composition includes processed non-hazardous food waste and insects. Physical labor is minimized through the use of artificial intelligence (AI). Special sensors under the control of AI allow monitoring the condition of insects.

We use our own unique methods to obtain purified fat from black soldier fly larvae and a protein-lipid additive.
Matvey Talan, Director of "Insectlab"

Currently, the monthly processing volume of the farm is 4 tons, and this figure is planned to be increased to 30 tons. Fine-tuning the mass production of the novelty will allow it to be used as an alternative to analogues from conservative sources of protein — fish and meat and bone meal.

The protein additive is primarily used in animal feed and, due to its complete amino acid composition, allows limiting the purchase of additional amino acid additives in compound feed, as a result, this additive will save compound feed producers money.

The author of the project emphasized that insect protein is easily absorbed and beneficial for health. In the future, the additive is planned to be used in food products and sports nutrition.
