Wild "Vepr" with a Trawl Based on the T-90A Tank: Russian Military Uses Highly Protected Mine Clearing Vehicle

BMR-3MA "Vepr" is produced at "Uralvagonzavod"

Russian military personnel have begun to use the highly protected BMR-3MA "Vepr" mine clearing vehicle (produced by "Uralvagonzavod") with a TMT-S continuous roller trawl in combat conditions. The equipment creates passages in minefields 3.2 m wide if the enemy used mines with contact fuses, and 7 m if with magnetic fuses.

The latest modifications of the BMR-3MA "Vepr" are built on the basis of the T-90A tank. Prior to this, "Uralvagonzavod" specialists used T-72 and T-90 tanks as a basis.

Features of BMR-3MA "Vepr":

  • enhanced anti-mine protection
  • the cabin is welded from armored rolled sheets
  • armament: 12.7-mm NSVT anti-aircraft tank machine gun, 8 902V "Tucha" smoke screen system grenade launchers
  • additional kit: RPG-7D grenade launcher, 9K38 "Igla" MANPADS, AKS-74 assault rifle
