Russia could use electronic warfare (EW) equipment to suppress reconnaissance drones and airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) aircraft of the U.S. Air Force in the Black Sea. This opinion was expressed by British geopolitical analyst Alexander Mercuris.
Russia can jam American drones over the Black Sea. And not only them, but also AWACS aircraft.
The analyst suggested that the unusual flight path of Western drones off the coast of Russia indicates the impact of electronic warfare systems.
The United States has repeatedly used strategic RQ-4B Global Hawk drones to conduct reconnaissance in the Black Sea. Most often, UAVs of this type fly from a base located on the island of Sicily.
The RQ-4 Global Hawk UAV was developed by Northrop Grumman specialists. The length of the drone in the RQ-4A version is 13.53 m, RQ-4B is 14.50 m. The maximum flight speed of the RQ-4A is 837 km/h, the RQ-4B version is 637 km/h.
