Корвет «Гремящий» провёл на Камчатке учения по противовоздушной обороне

Sailors Hit an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle

The corvette "Gremyashchiy," built at the USC "Severnaya Verf" shipyard, struck a mock enemy drone during an air defense training exercise. The exercises took place at the ship's home base in Kamchatka.

The corvette's air defense crews detected a low-flying target. It was identified as a drone and then destroyed.

As a reminder, the corvette "Gremyashchiy" of Project 20385 was launched on June 30, 2017. It was commissioned at the end of December 2020.

The ship's crew consists of 100 people, including 14 officers. The corvette can operate autonomously for 15 days. "Gremyashchiy" is equipped with four 16D49 diesel engines with a capacity of 24,000 horsepower. Its full speed is 27 knots.

The corvette carries one Ka-27PL helicopter on board, located in the deck hangar. The ship is equipped with various types of weapons: radar, electronic warfare, missile, anti-submarine, and anti-aircraft artillery. It was named in honor of the legendary destroyer of the Northern Fleet from the time of the Great Patriotic War.

It is worth noting that "Gremyashchiy" is the lead corvette of Project 20385. The second corvette in the series, "Provornyy," is scheduled to be handed over to the Navy in 2025. "Provornyy" was restored after a fire. Its sea trials are planned for the summer. The Russian Navy's need for ships of this project is estimated at 18 units.
