The Minister of Industry and Trade of Egypt, Ahmed Samir, said that the Egyptian company GV Investments and AvtoVAZ have signed a cooperation agreement. It will allow the launch of mass production of LADA cars in the Egyptian city of Tarboul.
The plant in Tarboul will occupy an area of 200,000 square meters and will become one of the largest car assembly plants in Egypt.
The company is under construction. According to the official, the plant will reach its target capacity in 2025. The plan for the production of cars will be from 50 thousand to 70 thousand cars per year. It is not yet known which specific models will be produced in Egypt.
Recall that the head of AvtoVAZ, Maxim Sokolov, in June last year spoke about plans to resume production of LADA cars in Egypt. In this country, from 2002 to 2013, the production of VAZ-2107 was established. Later, LADA Granta was assembled in Egypt.
