The complex is capable of shooting down MGM-140A/B ATACMS Block I/IA ballistic missiles

Russian troops on the front lines will receive batteries of S-300V/V4 medium- and long-range anti-aircraft missile systems. This was reported by the Telegram channel RussianArms.

Military analyst Yevgeny Damantsev suggested that the transfer of these anti-aircraft missile systems is due to their high potential in countering MGM-140A/B ATACMS Block I/IA tactical ballistic missiles.

To accomplish this task, one of the key advantages of the S-300V/V4 systems is the 9S19M2/M4 radar system for program scanning, represented by a phased antenna array with a rear illuminator powered by a high-energy microwave klystron.

In the standard version, the radar's elevation angle is 75% with a target detection range with an effective reflecting surface (ERS) of about 0.1 - 0.2 m², which is equivalent to MGM-140B ATACMS Block IA, at a distance of about 80 km at a flight altitude of 50 - 40 km.

At this altitude, the trajectories of 16 ballistic targets with an RCS of 0.1 m² are tracked, and target designation is issued to 6-channel missile guidance stations 9S32 (marker "1"), which acquire targets and issue target distribution to continuous radiation/illumination radar spotlights located on launchers 9A82/M4 and 9A83/M4. Then, commands are given for the sequential launch of two-stage SAMs 9M82/M4 and/or 9M83M4.

In the S-300V4 modification, the system is equipped with at least 3 times more powerful microwave klystrons and more sensitive receiving paths, which ensures the detection of ATACMS at a distance of up to 200 - 220 km.

Earlier, www1.ru reported on how Russia will respond to the appearance of ATACMS missile systems near its borders. The S-350 Vityaz air defense system from Almaz-Antey Air and Space Defence Corporation turned out to be the most promising in this regard.
