The American gaming service Steam has started accepting top-ups to gaming wallets via Tinkoff for users in Russia and the CIS countries to their accounts. As bank clients have discovered, it is accepted and goes through with Mir, Visa, and Mastercard cards.
You can top up your wallet in the "Payments" category in amounts from 50 rubles to 14,000 rubles per transaction. The bank does not charge a commission, but Steam will deduct approximately 11% of the amount when converting to dollars when topping up the wallet.
Before this, since March 2022, Russians could not pay for the service with Mir, Visa, and Mastercard cards — Valve Corp., which owns Steam, prohibited this. PayPal, in turn, refused to work in Russia, and Russians lost the ability to pay on Steam through these e-wallets.
Added:
The ability to top up Steam for Russians worked smoothly for less than a week. Already on Monday, June 3, the bank's support service announced that the service was disabled.
Both on the website and through the Tinkoff application, it stopped working "due to technical work on the supplier's side." The bank did not announce the timing of the technical work, noting that they would inform users when payment becomes available again.
