Russian import-substituted MC-21 flew to Irkutsk for storage

The flight was uneventful

An experienced import-substituted MC-21 successfully flew from Zhukovsky to Irkutsk.

According to "Aviation of Russia", on May 30, the MC-21-300 prototype with tail number 73053 performed a flight with technical specialists from "Yakovlev" on board. This aircraft was involved in the MC-21 certification flight tests in its imported configuration, performing flights to test import-substituted avionics elements and new avionics software as a whole.

Currently, according to "Aviation of Russia", citing the Gromov Flight Research Institute, the aircraft has been sent for storage to the Irkutsk Aviation Plant (IAZ), which may indicate that it is not currently participating in testing. However, it is known that the second test aircraft, the MC-21 with tail number 73055, is expected to resume flights by the end of June.

Earlier in May, the MC-21 had already performed its first automatic landing using Russian engines. Approximately 100 more flights are planned as part of the system testing.
