The Almaz Central Marine Design Bureau (part of USC) presented a series of fundamentally new ice-class vessel designs for operation on the Northern Sea Route at the Maritime Congress in Vladivostok. These vessels are designed to transport passengers, deliver cargo, and perform underwater technical work, according to the USC press service.
Participants of the Maritime Congress were shown a concept of a self-propelled cargo vessel of increased ice class (Arc5) with an open cargo deck. It is assumed that the vessel will be able to transport cargo in Arctic conditions.
The USC press service added that the fleet of the future may also include a marine rescue and tug vessel and a vessel for providing underwater technical work. The developers plan to make them autonomous for 50 days with the possibility of sailing 6,000 nautical miles.
