Pontoon crossings help the military quickly overcome water obstacles in their path and transport heavy equipment and personnel to the other side. The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation showed a video of the training of the pontoon-bridge unit of the "Southern" group of troops.
The soldiers practiced actions to organize a pontoon ferry when crossing the Seversky Donets River. The published footage shows a pontoon-bridge park driving up to the water and unloading the first section of the future ferry into the water, which, thanks to its plastic base, independently unfolds into a floating section with a carriageway width of 6.5 meters.
Our main purpose is the equipment and maintenance of obstacles across water crossings. We are ready to fulfill any necessary task, obstacles do not matter: ferry or bridge crossing.
During the training, military engineers assembled a ferry with a carrying capacity of 180 tons from several pontoons and successfully transported military equipment to the other side.
The most important task is to provide personnel for motorized rifle, tank and artillery units so that they can move forward. "Without us, no one" - we confirm this motto every day.
Earlier www1.ru reported that in Russia they started developing a new state armaments program for a ten-year period. First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov noted that the work is being carried out jointly with the Military-Industrial Commission, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and the Ministry of Defense.
