The Russian BMD-4M is designed to equip parachute landing units, as well as conduct maneuverable offensive and defensive operations in conjunction with other types and systems of airborne forces weapons.
BMD-4M is an air-transportable combat floating vehicle on a tracked chassis. The crew of the BMD-4M is 3 people, but the vehicle is also capable of accommodating 7 equipped paratroopers.
A hydropneumatic suspension was installed on the landing platform, which allows you to change the ground clearance from 100 to 500 millimeters, which reduces the profile of the car when using it in defense.
