В обход санкций: Росатом начал изготовление деталей корпуса реактора для АЭС «Пакш-2»

New power units are planned to be connected by the early 2030s

AEM-Spetsstal (part of Rosatom's engineering division) has started manufacturing blanks for the first reactor vessel of the Paks-2 NPP in Hungary, the corporation's press service reported.

According to experts, all new reactor power units are planned to be connected to the grid by the early 2030s. Currently, workers have cast 600 tons of metal, which will be used to make shells (a structural element of the reactor vessel) for the VVER-1200 Generation III+.

The parts are manufactured on an automated forging complex, which is considered one of the largest in Europe. Then, the structural elements undergo mechanical testing on vertical turning lathes.

Vitaly Polyanin, the project director for the construction of the Paks NPP, stated that the equipment for the primary circuit is planned to be manufactured between 2028 and 2029.

Ahead are blanks for steam generators, pressure compensators, safety system tanks, and other products.

Currently, work has been completed on the construction of an anti-filtration curtain (an artificial barrier to reduce the filtration properties of the soil and prevent the spread of pollutants), and the soil is being strengthened in the area of the first power unit. The first layer of concrete will be poured by the end of 2024.

Many Rosatom enterprises are under Western sanctions. However, against the backdrop of the country's dependence on Russian nuclear technologies, the Hungarian authorities do not support these restrictions and continue to cooperate with Rosatom.

Earlier, www1.ru reported on a new stage of work at the Paks-2 NPP with participation of Rosatom.
