Russian Aerospace Forces Have Begun to Use Cruise Missiles More Frequently in Combat Conditions

Crews of the fifth-generation Su-57 aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces have begun to actively use low-observable Kh-69 cruise missiles (a variant of the Kh-59 MK2 missile) of the "air-to-surface" class in combat conditions. This was written by military analyst Dylan Malyasov of Defence blog.

According to the publication, Russian Su-57s have launched at least 6 such missiles in the last month alone. He compared the Kh-69 with Western-made missiles.

For these deadly missions, the Su-57 uses a new low-observable Kh-69 cruise missile, which is called the Russian response to the German Taurus missiles and the Anglo-French Storm Shadow/Scalp missiles.

Data on the active use of the Kh-69 by Su-57 fighters of the Russian Aerospace Forces was also confirmed by The Military Watch magazine. The publication notes that missiles of this class have short tail units and can be placed in the internal compartments of the aircraft.

The missile uses a penetrating warhead weighing 320 kg, but can also be equipped with a smaller granular warhead designed to hit targets over a larger area.

The Kh-69 was developed at the MKB Raduga (part of the Tactical Missiles Corporation). The missile was first presented to the general public in 2022.

The developers created the missile taking into account special requirements for accuracy, noise immunity, compactness and low visibility. The Kh-69 has a square cross-section and short tail unit. Its range is up to 290 km, and the mass of the warhead is 310 kg.
